2 Site Managers, MEP Coordinator and Estimator in structural engineering filled in Hamburg

Portrait eines Mannes
The Challenge

A leading construction company with several locations in northern Germany was looking at short notice for four qualified specialists for demanding projects in turnkey residential and commercial construction.

The positions to be filled were:

  • 2 Structural Construction Site Managers (m/f/d)

  • 1 Estimator (m/f/d)

  • 1 Specialist for MEP Coordination / Technical Project Management (m/f/d)

In addition to a sound technical qualification or a technical degree, practical experience in turnkey construction, in the coordination of various trades, and in managing interfaces with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems was required. Additionally, candidates needed to be familiar with VOB, HOAI, and variations management, and be willing to travel to construction sites across northern Germany.

The combination of construction site experience, reliable coordination of subcontractors, and the ability to bring together technical, commercial, and organisational requirements significantly reduced the pool of available candidates. At the same time, the first suitable profiles had to be presented as quickly as possible to ensure that ongoing construction projects could be staffed without delay.

Our Approach

Immediately after the project launch, NovaSearch began a targeted search for suitable specialists and executives. We combined our existing network with Active Sourcing to identify Site Managers, Estimators, as well as specialists for MEP coordination and technical project management.

Particular focus was placed on practical project experience: we looked for individuals who could not only assess individual trades technically but also coordinate complex processes in turnkey construction and collaborate reliably with clients, planners, and subcontractors.

Through close communication with the client, requirements were quickly refined, profiles were targeted and pre-qualified, and presented at short notice. The first positions were filled within seven days. The complete staffing of all four positions was completed within 17 days.

The Result
  • 9 qualified profiles presented within the search period

  • The first positions filled within 7 days

  • All 4 positions successfully filled within 17 days

Conclusion

Filling specialist and leadership positions in structural engineering requires more than general industry experience. What is decisive is the combination of technical competence, knowledge of processes in turnkey construction, and the ability to reliably coordinate different project stakeholders.

With nine qualified profiles and four successful placements within 14 days, NovaSearch was able to help our client secure key competencies for ongoing and upcoming projects in northern Germany in good time.
